What is Founders Day of Giving?
Founders Day of Giving is Phi Psi’s official social fundraising initiative, designed to increase philanthropic support for the Fraternity through the Phi Kappa Psi Foundation. Alumni, undergraduates, parents, and friends are encouraged to make a gift and show their support for Phi Psi.
To build momentum, the Day of Giving is gamified through a Chapter Challenge, where the top three chapters in both Most Donors and Most Dollars earn prizes, recognition, and additional funding to a Foundation held chapter fund of their choice. But the real drivers of success are Phi Psi Advocates. Advocates mobilize their networks, spark friendly competition, and lead the charge for their chapter. Become a Phi Psi Advocate. Rally your brothers. Help your chapter finish in the top three and leave your mark on Founders Day of Giving.
What does a Phi Psi Advocate do?
Phi Psi Advocates are extremely important. They spread awareness of Founders Day of Giving, inspire through their testimony and encourage others to show their support of Phi Psi. As an advocate, every brother, friend or family member you convert into a Founders Day donor amplifies your impact on the lives of Phi Psi students.
A Phi Psi Advocate:
- Raises awareness about Founders Day of Giving through social media by posting on their accounts and sharing in their Phi Psi groups.
- Connects with Phi Psi brothers, friends and/or family via phone, email, text or social media.
- Makes a gift of any amount meaningful to them and encourages others to follow their lead.

Creating a Match or Challenge
Offering your gift as a match or challenge is a great way to encourage others to give.
What is the difference between a match and a challenge?
Great question! A match is a type of gift that unlocks each time a donor that meets your set criteria makes a gift. For example: You offer a $1,000 match that will unlock dollar for dollar for any donor who selects your chapter as their affiliation up to $1,000. OR You offer $1,000 match that will unlock $100 for every donor that gives and selects a specific fund of your choice. You have full control around the parameters of your match but the main thing to remember is, each time those parameters are met, a portion of your match is unlocked.
A challenge, on the other hand, unlocks once your criteria is fully achieved. For example: You offer a $500 challenge that will unlock if 5 donors make a gift from your pledge class. OR You offer a $500 challenge that will unlock if 5 people create a recurring gift.
Setting your match or challenge up
- Visit the Founders Day of Giving page and sign into GiveCampus.
- Click the button labeled “Offer a Match” or “Offer a Challenge”.
- Set the criteria that will unlock your gift.
- Complete the remainder of the payment form.
- Share your match or challenge with your Phi Psi brothers, friends and family by phone, email, text and/or social media. Make sure to use your personalized link.
What Type of Outreach Should I Do?
The type of outreach you do, depends on the type of outreach you are comfortable doing. Phi Psi Advocates often reach out to brothers from their pledge class, friends that they have shared their Phi Psi experience with and family members that know the impact Phi Psi has made on them. Who you reach out to and how many people that is, is completely up to you.
The best approach for success is to share the message through different channels (phone, email, text and social media). Utilize whichever channels you are most comfortable with. Below are sample messages and images that you can use in your outreach, but feel free to create your own messages. Just be sure to include your personalized link in your outreach so your advocacy will be tracked.
