Excellence in Advising

Excellence in Advising Grant Program

The Excellence in Advising Grant Program is intended for Chapter Advisors who work with collegians and wish to improve and promote the academic and scholarship endeavors of the students they advise. Between $500 and $1,000 is able to be requested by Chapter Advisors for the purchase of educational materials and services to be used during undergraduate programming.

The program encourages the development of innovative projects within established criteria. The program also encourages establishing an active relationship between the college or university, other Greek organizations and the campus community as a whole.

Preferences for grants are given to programs/projects that address the needs of current undergraduates, involve partnerships and are replicable. For additional information on the Excellence in Advising Grant Program or if you have application questions, please contact the Foundation offices at 800.350.1852 or fellowships@PKPFoundation.org.

Programming grants will be issued in one lump sum to the Chapter Advisor on behalf of the chapter and the monies may only be used for educational related activities and/or materials.

Applications are due June 15, 2022.

Matthew Zaft, Johns Hopkins ’94, has created his legacy within Phi Psi by working with the Foundation to establish the Excellence in Advising Grant Program. After graduating, Brother Zaft served as a Chapter Advisor for Maryland Alpha for seven years and spearheaded local alumni relations and fundraising efforts.

Brother Zaft’s time as a Chapter Advisor made him aware of the need for advisors to have a resource for funding educational development activities. “Advisors volunteer their time with no compensation and no budget,” he says. “I want my legacy to help advisors continue building men of integrity and have the resources to do so.”
