Paul
R. Wineman, Washington Alpha ’55, attended the American University
of Beirut and graduated with an MA in Middle Eastern Studies
in 1967. That degree formed the basis for Brother Wineman’s success
being employed as a Sales Director for companies such as the AVCO Corporation
and United Technologies while living in the Middle East. Later Brother Wineman
formed his own company to assist American companies wishing to do business
in the Middle East and maintained residency in Beirut, Lebanon until 1984.
Today Paul continues to negotiate contracts and train American corporations
in negotiation tactics and techniques.
Brother Wineman feels that America’s economic future lies in its ability to successfully negotiate in the “global marketplace” of the 21st Century. He feels that as long as oil remains the mainstay of industrial economies of the world, there is going to continue to be a need for well-trained Americans willing to negotiate America’s future in the Middle East. It is for this reason that this Fellowship has been established only for Phi Psi brothers. Only those sincerely interested in making the Middle Eastern part of this world a significant part of their professional lives should apply.
