The Foundation encourages members to take advantage of interfraternal leadership opportunities including Futures Quest. Annually, the Foundation awards seven Futures Quest Fellowships that cover the costs associated with registration for the program and reasonable travel accommodations. Hosted by the North-American Interfraternity Institute (NIC), Futures Quest is a two-day interfraternal program for newly initiated members. Attendees focus on identifying an individual’s personal strengths and weaknesses while honing communication and leadership skills. UIFI exposes initiates to a variety of situations and new ideas and encouraged to enact them in future fraternal experiences. Futures Quest is an outdoor retreat designed to teach team-building, problem-solving and decision-making skills. The highlight of the weekend, a high ropes course, symbolizes the challenges faced when serving in a leadership position. Participants have a mentor who is a seasoned fraternity leader, guiding them through the weekend, sharing knowledge and experiences in many different ways. The bond that is created during the weekend is lasting — everyone arrives as strangers and leaves as friends and interfraternal brothers. No previous leadership experience is required to attend Futures Quest, just a desire to better yourself and your Greek community.
