International Fellowship Award Requirements

To qualify for the full Fellowship, recipients must attend and graduate with a degree in Middle Eastern Studies within 18 months of entering the program at AUB. Arabic language courses must be a component of the total course of study.

Applicants will be required to sign an agreement certifying they will graduate with a Masters Degree in Middle Eastern studies from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. Partial payments will be made to AUB, as required, based on the Fellow’s progress towards completion of the degree program.

Applicants must agree to pay back their Fellowship to the Foundation if they fail to successfully complete the Masters Degree Program at AUB. Terms of repayment can be arranged, consistent with rates and terms of current Federal student loan programs. The repayments to the Foundation will not be tax deductible.

The Fellow will spend at least a day with Brothe Paul Wineman prior to traveling to Lebanon and will then be required to file a progress report to the selection committee at the completion of each term. Additional correspondence and contact is encouraged and may be required.
