Wayne was initiated into the Michigan Beta chapter at Michigan State University in 1959. He went on to law school to receive his J.D. in 1965 and has practiced law ever since. He currently is in private practice, specializing in probate law and lives in Sterling Heights, Michigan, with his wife Marcia.

Wayne has served the Fraternity in many capacities, including two years as Assistant Attorney General, four years as Attorney General, a term as National Secretary and, since 1994, as a Trustee of the Foundation. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Trustees. Wayne also is a member of the Ancient Order of the S.C. and has attended 20 Grand Arch Councils.

His professional and volunteer activities include the State Bar of Michigan, the Macomb County Bar Association and the Macomb County Probate Bar Association. He is a founder and past president of the Wayne County Probate Bar Association and a committee member of the Alzheimer Association. In addition, he is a frequent lecturer on legal education.
