Johns Hopkins ’97

Matt Zaft, Johns Hopkins ’94, has created his legacy within Phi Psi by working with the Foundation to establish the Excellence in Advising Grant Program. After graduating, Brother Zaft served as a Chapter Advisor for Maryland Alpha for seven years and spearheaded local alumni relations and fundraising efforts.

Brother Zaft’s time as a Chapter Advisor made him aware of the need for advisors to have a resource for funding educational development activities. “Advisors volunteer their time with no compensation and no budget,” he says. “I want my legacy to help advisors continue building men of integrity.”

Professionally, Matt has enjoyed much success. He is a Senior Vice President of Investments with The Zaft Group, a global wealth management partner of Merrill Lynch, and currently manages individual, corporate and institutional portfolios in addition to developing financial strategies and advice on insurance, annuities and options. Matt received his B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Economics from Johns Hopkins University. With over 15 years of experience in the investment industry, Matt's areas of expertise include portfolio management, financial strategies and annuities. In Barron’s Magazine Matt was named among “America’s Top Advisors” in both 2009 and 2010.  Matt, his wife Erin and their daughter Olivia, live in Chevy Chase, MD.
